Crafting the Details at WOW!house 2025

WOW!house at DCCH is one of those rare events that truly celebrates what designers, makers and constructors can achieve together.

We were proud to contribute to the Laura Hammett x Samuel Heath bathroom - a reimagining of Art Deco in celebration of its centenary. As the in-house joinery division of InteriorLAB, we supported the technical design, pre-manufacture and delivery of the joinery, substructure and detailed coordination that helped bring this space to life.

This project was incredibly complex and really pushed the boundaries in each aspect. InteriorLAB’s Design Manager, Sam Nicholls, described the complexity well:

“The design from Laura Hammett and Samuel Heath was incredibly considered, but it also came with real build complexity and a hugely challenging timeline for construction on site. From the structural coordination behind the stonemasonry to the precision joinery required for the bespoke vanity, it required careful consideration and meticulous planning strategy.

That’s where collaboration really matters. Ashton Bespoke played a key role in delivering the substructure and support for the stonework. Every element had to be incredibly accurate, both to achieve visual alignment and to support the material weight. This wasn’t a place for approximation, it demanded total accuracy.”

Achieving that accuracy began long before installation. Although the bathroom appears seamless, which is the mark of good design, the detailed review revealed significant technical challenges. A wide range of materials had to come together with millimetre precision, and the room’s geometry added further complexity, with 45-degree corners, four triangular columns and vertical stone strips that needed to align with the design on the floor. All of this had to be delivered within a window of just four days, despite being something that would usually take weeks on site.

We determined early on that we would need to pre-construct the entire room in our workshop. This allowed us to create precise templates for every element and build in the tolerances required for materials less forgiving than timber. By the time we arrived at WOW!house, the installation programme was planned to the hour. The first day was certainly an anxious one, but the walls, panels and columns all went up exactly as planned.

The vanity, though seamless in appearance, required an equally rigorous engineering approach. Constructed from heavy stone components and installed within a small space, it needed to be built in multiple sections. Through CAD modelling, we were able to understand how each part interacted and engineer a process that would allow it to be reassembled on site with total accuracy.

From the design side, Laura Hammett shared:

“Creating our WOW!house room was such a rewarding experience, not just for the design itself, but for the extraordinary collaboration behind it. Working with InteriorLAB and Ashton Bespoke felt completely seamless, rooted in years of trust, shared standards, and mutual respect.

Ashton Bespoke brought the joinery to life with such clarity and craftsmanship—it was truly a pleasure to see their artistry unfold within the scheme. This room was a culmination of long-standing relationships built on a genuine understanding of what it takes to deliver exceptional design at every level, and I wouldn’t want to have trusted anyone else to carry out our vision.”

The Samuel Heath team added:

“This collaboration gave us the opportunity to create something truly original... To see it installed so precisely within Laura Hammett’s Art Deco vision, and executed with such care by InteriorLAB, was a proud moment... Communication with InteriorLAB and Ashton Bespoke was really straightforward and with so much accurate planning done in advance we were able to hit a very tight deadline for such a complex installation.”

As our Managing Director, Graham Goodall, reflected:

“It was an absolute pleasure for Ashton Bespoke to have been involved in this project. A chance to apply our experience and attention to detail on something so carefully considered.”

This project was supported by an exceptional group of suppliers, including Capietra Artisans, Stuart Fox ltd., Prado, Lapicida and Cadogan Gallery. The bathroom was featured in several publications, including Architectural Digest, House & Garden, Country & Town House and Business of Home.
